Team Budget Forklifts dominate the placings at McDonalds Grafton tp Inverell Classic.
Grafton to Inverell Classic,12th September 2009

Team Budget Forklifts has left a massive black and yellow imprint over the 2009 Grafton to Inverell, with the team putting 2 riders on the A Grade podium.

After 229km of epic leg busting racing, Queensland boy Malcolm Rudolph came out on top after beating strong man Will Clark (Praties) in a sprint finish. The team plan was carried out to the letter with all the boys contributing to win and doing their jobs perfectly. Peter Ladd set up the win early by getting himself in the early break that lasted all the way over the range, until a group of almost 30 formed before Glen Innes.

With all the favourites now at the front of the race, a number of very dangerous moves occurred but all were covered by the budget riders. Mal Rudolph and Cameron Jennings went with a 11 man break at Glenn Innes which contained last year’s winner David Pell, two Fly V Australia riders, and 3 Praties riders. With the Tasmanians having a numbers advantage Team Budget and Fly V went on the attack with Mal Rudolph and Bernie Sulzburger. Praties responded with Will Clarke jumping across the gap.

After some tough racing three become two with Bernie Sulzburger dropped by Mal and Will Clarke, and it became a 2 man war to the finish of the classic.

Mal showed his class by winning the toughest one day race in Australia by a narrow margin in a sprint finish. The day got sweater for budget gang when Cameron Jennings out sprinted the 2nd group of selected riders and finished 3rd. The team rode according to manger Jeremy Betts plan and the tactics developed by Jeremy proved to be the best out there. A great day for the team.
